About Odyssey
Dance Theatre Ltd.
(ODT)
Danny Tan, Artistic Director/Choreographer, founded Odyssey Dance Theatre
(ODT) in June 1999 with his vision to provide a new creative voice in
dance.
In January 2000,
ODT made its debut performance - 'ODYSSEY TO THE SUBLIME' at Jubilee
Hall and Taiwan ROC respectively. This successful debut has led ODT
to present other acclaimed repertoires such as
· 'XTREME'
(April 2000),
'THE ORIGINS' (Sept 2000),
· 'ONE' - 1ST ANNIVERSARY PERFORMANCE (Jan 2001),
'XTREME2' (May
2001),
· 'THE WHITE SENSATION' (September 2001),
· XPOSITION 'O' CONTEMPORARY DANCE FIESTA (Nov/Dec 2001),
· 'XTRODINARY SOLOS - A SEASON OF ASIAN CONTEMPORARY DANCERS'
(February 2002) &
· 'BOLD MOVES' (May 2002)
In November 2000,
ODT launched the 'NEW TALENT PRESENTATION' series with an objective
to provide a platform for the creation of works by dance practitioners.
Part 2 of this series - 'BOLD MOVES', which was presented in May 2002,
saw the culmination of new works by Danny Tan and emerging choreographers
Kuo Jing Hong (Singapore), Lee Ming-Cheng (Taiwan) and Albert Tiong
(Malaysia).
ODT has also performed
at Hong Kong and Australia in February and March 2001 - a dynamic move
to promote local and original professional works to the international
audience.
As the
Artiste-In-School at Northland Secondary School (the 1st of its kind
& awarded by the National Arts Council in June 2000), ODT has embarked
on a 4-year comprehensive and interactive arts curriculum for the school
and cluster's involvement, since January 2001.
